Cheers to Traffic Police:::
Don’t take the heading in a wrong way, it was actually something I want to praise the CHENNAI CITY TRAFFIC POLICE for the timely response they have shown for the call.
It was on NEW Year’s First day. Jan 1, 2012. Morning 8.30 am, I was inside a hospital and watching the road… our own GST road , like always it was busy.. Many two wheelers, of course people driving without helmets and also there were many responsible citizens driving with LIDS.
Then there came a group, sad to say it was a death procession, they just blocked the road in front of BALAJI HOSPITAL and crossed the GST road, removed the barricades and they passed thru it within two minutes. But the trail they left was with flowers and the barricades they opened were still open.
After doing everything with the dead body, the same group returned after half an hour.
The worst things happened within that half an hour, all the people coming from guindy should take the flyover for a U-TURN, but everyone saw the opening of barricades, many people just stopped the vehicle on road and took a reverse and they crossed thru the barricade, up to the maximum even a Tata 407 was trying to make a U-TURN in that small gap, all the pedestrians were so comfortable to cross the road thru it, but it made the vehicles so uncomfortable all the cars and bikes were screeching with tyres and brakes for the pedestrians.
One biker fell while braking for a pedestrian, to the fact the biker was scolded by the pedestrian as if the mistake was on the biker.
Though I sensed the situation, I was unable to do anything as I was in the hospital. The one thing what I can do was to make a complaint.
I just dialed 100…. The number which we always choose for emergency… they gave one more number as it is related with traffic issues.
The number which directly took to the traffic control room (044-23452362), I gave the location to them on 9.22 am…
To my astonishment, I again heard a screeching noise from outside at 9.30 am, just I saw thru the window... I didn’t believe it, there was a policeman who was arranging the barricades, a single police man arranged 5 barricades. Our City Police always rocks…
Some what I too felt responsible for this, though it took only 8 min for them to reach the place and make the arrangement of barricade , I took a oath, next time I won’t wait for them to come, if it’s possible for us to do, we should do it…..
Don’t wait for the system to change… be the change by yourself..
